It was 1995 when the Rugby Union began to join the world of professional sports; it began as a creation of a group of countries, namely South Africa, New Zealand and Australia, to sell TV broadcasting rights of the two newly established rugby competitions at the time, which were the domestic Super 12 and Tri-Nations. The first Tri-Nation competition was held in 1996 with New Zealand's All Blacks winning all test nation matches. It was also in 1996 when New Zealand's all black shirt clad rugby union national team won their first Tri-Nation tournament against South Africa, winning Tri-Nation matches the year after as well in 1997.
And like the team, their uniform has also gone through different changes. Today, the all blacks jersey is sporting the silver colored New Zealand Rugby Union fern as well as the Adidas logo out on its front. During the 1984 Australian tour, which was New Zealand's first tour, the team had worn an entirely different uniform from what today's jersey looks like. In 1984, the team had worn a dark blue jersey with a gold fern on the upper left side of the jumper. In 1993 however, the New Zealand Rugby Union stipulated in its annual meeting that the national team's uniform must be all black with a Rugby Union silver fern on the upper left side of the jersey as well as white knickerbockers. In 1991 however, the All Blacks team had worn a uniform of black jersey, a canvas top that had no collar but still had the silver New Zealand Rugby Union fern on the upper left side of the chest. Today however, the uniform of the team is sporting an embroidered poppy leaf on their uniforms in order to honor the soldiers who have fought in the battlefields of Europe.

Above the gentle hum of conversation and the less gentle hum of traffic
rumbling past on Fifth Avenue, one could hear the chirping of birds and the
clanking of metal as a small group of New Yorkers took turns thwacking each
other with swords.
Bryant Park was cleaned up decades ago from one of the most notorious needle
parks in the city. This has made it safe enough for ice skating and summer
movie nights, but on Tuesday afternoons, the gauntlet returns. The violence is
fierce, but sanctioned, and safe—12 weeks of free sword-fighting lessons
taught by coaches from the Manhattan Fencing Center.
“They’re practicing a straight attack to the head,” said fencing center
director Julia Gellman, who interpreted the group’s exercises for both_ the
Observer_ and perplexed passersby.
Some spectators were eager to jump into the fray, but in fencing, as in so
many other things, timing is paramount. “After we go over the rules and
footwork, it’s kind of dangerous to come in late,” explained Ms. Gellman, as
