Scan Photos And Why You Need To Scan Those Photos

One reason that anyone should consider scan photos is that these images are fading fast into history . You don't notice when the slide is just made, but the color will be subject to change even with proper storage and the absence of damaging light. The problem is, the colors shift a bit and a haze that is yellow tinged ! the colors can change and a yellowed haze may show up one slides that have been stored for awhile and only realize their deteriorating condition once you want to enjoy those memories and you get those slides out.

Digitizing is Helpful

Making any image digital , especially those that are colored, can help to keep a clean and crisp image preserved for many years . Scanning the slides may not be the cure to keeping these images preserved if they have already started fading or have developed a yellow light cast . Going with scan photos on your images that aren't scratched or deteriorated is an important step toward keeping them safe for posterity . Of course, there are a few steps to use to keep color slides in tact before you get around to digitizing your memories .

Store in Cool Places

Institutions with large collections of color slides keep them refrigerated . One rule to keep in mind is that the older the image, the colder it should be .

Keep Them Dry

Avoiding humidity is also important to create extended life . The best way to keep them at low humidity , put the color slides in a freezer inside a container that is airtight.

Air Conditioning Can Help

If you can't store those slides in the freezer in a container that is airtight , the next idea is to keep them in an environment that is air conditioned.

Factors to Remember

It's easy to bet that color slides from the past contain images you want to keep . Although there is a cost factor that you need to consider when trying to preserve your family images , think about the cost to the family if you allow these images to fade into nothingness . By using professional and reliable scan photos you'll get to come up with a plan that is ongoing to digitize the entire library of colored slides that you possess .

Don't take too long to drag out those cartons or pages of slides you have in storage so they can be digitized. Because if you wait too long , they may fade away forever .

How can I scan a 35mm color slide onto my computer?

I have a hp brand officejet 5510 all-in-one printer/scanner. I can't seem to figure out if it's possible to scan a slide with this, although I know I once jury-rigged a system to scan a slide onto a different computer. Can't remember how I did it though. Any info/assistance appreciated. Thanks.
T-Bar, I took your advice and did explore the HP Director on my computer, but I can't find a Color Transparency category under scan preferences. I wonder if it's because mine is an older model? It's a relatively high-end machine, but it does date back a few years. Am I missing something, or is it my model of HP printer/scanner that's missing something?

You need to find out if they make a slide adapter for your scanner.

If not, buy a film scanner. I think they even sell them at Brookstone.
