The Benefits Of Digital Signs
Have you observed some developments in recent years when you walk into businesses or corporate buildings? Take fast food outlets for instance, most of the signs are digital and show off the most recent value meals or animations on why their meals are so tasty and the cost is just right. Or enter a clothes retailer and you'll see plasma screens showing the most recent fashion statements. Even places such as the airport or the DMV are applying digital technology to keep customers informed with interactive screens. Welcome to the field of digital Signs.
In a nutshell, digital signs are an electronic digital display that shows various info, public interest messages, and advertising. These digital screens can be employed on LCDs, plasma screens, or on digital panels that use low power LEDs.
So what is their purpose and why try them? Well, before digital signs, retailers, establishments, and other parties only had a static solution, signs that couldn't change without some measure of effort. For example, fast food outlets used letter panels on their tall signs that would publicize their latest value dinner or big sale. To change the sign, someone drag equipment out, climb up and change the lettering for the next ad campaign by hand. If you go to any fast food eating place now, you are likely to see digital signage. Digital signs save a good number of time and money for advertisers. For that same eating place that used to have a static sign and the hard work that went with it, now changing to narrowcasting for the most up-to-date ad project takes a fraction of the time with a few keystrokes or upload of the adverting content.
The're a variety of uses and applications where digital signs can be found. Advertising is a big market for digital signs in Los Angeles because its use is so simple. Also referred to as digital merchandising and captive audience networks, digital signage has the capability to be changed on the fly to be geared for the correct viewers. Perhaps a eating house will have digital signage that displays breakfast specials in the morning. That same eating house can then speedily change its digital signs to display the day's lunch specials as it gets nearer to noon.
Digital signs also can be called screen media or digital out-of-home and can also be of assistance for brand building and influencing patron behaviors. Grocery stores may make use of digital signs in food isles to show animations of kid's favorite characters to influence the purchase of a particular brand.
Besides advertisement and entertainment, digital signs can likewise be employed for passing along facts. Digital signs can be seen around town, displaying the local news, weather, or calendar of community events. Companies may make use of digital signs to display corporate communications, health and security information, and other news. Even public places can use digital signage with interactivity screens to help people discover directions or how to perform certain projects.
As technology continues to raise and more and larger numbers of people become accustomed to digital signs, its possible ways to enhance our lifetimes seems almost limitless.
What drawing tablets have digital display?
I wanted to know which drawing tablets have built-in digital display besides the ultra-famous (& ultra-expensive) "Cintiq" bunch. Are there any others?
As far as I know, the Cintiq is it. I haven't heard of any others of that quality; of course there are tablet PCs that allow you to draw directly on the screen (heck, I think HP has one—it's been featured in the current Project Runway [product placement!!]—all the designers were given one, with software already loaded. Funny thing is only a few of them ever seem to be using the computers). I am pretty sure they won't be quite as expensive as the Cintiq, but I also believe they don't have all the features either.
