Problem with my Panasonic DVD Recorder, why can't I use the Guide anymore?
Always use the Guide for recording my TV programmes, so quick and easy, but all of a sudden the Guide which lists all the programmes is blank and says no data. Why is this? I can record by entering all the details of what I want to record, whereas with the Guide it is the one click of a button, so easy and quick.
Sony use the same system, which is updated every 24 hours.. Chances are, you've unplugged or switched off the wall socket, no matter how brief a time, or there may have been a power outage.. If this is the case, it can take up to 24 hours for the data to be renewed..
Also, you need to be sure that your TV aerial (antenna) is kept plugged in at all times.. If it is ever disconnected, the data will only hold good until it has expired, (a maximum of 7 days) after which time, if the aerial remains unplugged, there will have been no new data downloaded, and consequently you will see only empty fields where the data should be..
Also worth trying is to make sure your 'guide channel' is correctly set.. The guide channel is the channel that carries the data, and is often preset at the factory, but also has a manual setup to allow you to use any regional variations.. Your instruction manual will tell you how to set your guide channel..
Best suggestion is:- try unplugging the recorder for a minute or two, (this clears any corrupted data and resets the machine's basic settings) then reconnect it to the mains, and ensure that your aerial is correctly plugged in.. Then leave it for 24 to 48 hours, and check again..

I checked my own TV guide last night... I assume you are in the UK because there is a fault in the TV guide data.. It seems that the guide became 'locked' into Sunday's programmes, and left a large portion of blank fields on every channel's row... This is apparently a temporary fault and will be rectified shortly (if not already done at the time of this update) - Programme data from Monday (today) onwards is however still available, if you scroll forward from Sunday's blank spaces.!
Technology - you just can't beat it....!!
