Omron HR-100C Heart Rate Monitor
The Omron HR-100C Heart Monitor Watch has been a favorite amongst health and fitness enthusiasts for some time now. It is a simple and easy to use monitor. Unlike most other heart monitors out there, the Omron HR-100C does not have all the fancy features and functions such as GPS and Online Connectivity. However, for a fraction of the price of Polar, Suunto and Garmin heart monitors, this Omron product does basically the same thing. It was designed and built to be as simple as possible yet effective at the same time. The purpose of a heart monitor is to give in real time, heart beats or rate. From there, you can see where you stand in your fitness and find ways to improve on it. The following is a short review on the Omron HR-100C.
Features
As stated above, this Omron Monitor is pretty simple. Unlike most of its competition, the HR-100C is easy to program. It comes with a wrist band that is well ventilated thus making it really comfortable. This heart monitor watch also has an alarm that indicates the user if the rate of their heart is too high or low. This is both a performance enhancer and safety measure to ensure your workouts or training is as effective as possible. This Omron Heart Rate Monitor also comes with a portable chest strap or belt that connects to the watch to give a more accurate reading. In fact, the belt can send data to the receiver up to a distance of 30 meters or 98 feet which is really handy. The Omron HR-100C is also a great everyday watch in that it has all the basic features for one. It comes with a back light function, time and date display and also a daily reminder alarm.
Cons
A lot of the time, the main problem with a heart monitor watch is that the chest strap does not connect to the watch and can cause inaccuracy. With the Omron HR-100C all you have to do is re-adjust the strap and then reset the watch and you are good to go!
If you are looking for a reliable and easy to use heart monitor watch, try the Omron HR-100C. It is great piece of ingenuity that has taken the heart monitor industry by storm.

effect from wearing the garmin heart rate moniter?
I recently baught the garmin 110 with the heart rate monitor and i just used it today but the thing is usually i can run over 4 miles in under 8:30 minute miles no problem with a heart rate of under 160 but today i used the heart rate monitor and my heart rate was around 180 and my lungs felt weak and when i got to the second mile i felt like i've never ran before! Is the heart rate monitor doing something to my lungs and should i stop the use of it? Also is the heart rate monitor the cause to the effect of my running today? also not to mention now my lungs feel like its having a hard time intaking oxygen!
it is only a single incident, if it is repeating you need to see ur doctor, also make sure you don't have any recent respiratory tract infection. u can still use the monitor.
Basis unveils web dashboard for Basis Band health tracker, makes it easy to see how unhealthy you are (Engadget)
The Basis Band is a health tracking watch with optical sensors that track your
heart rate, an accelerometer to see how active you are, galvanic skin response
to measure your perspiration, plus ambient and skin temperature sensors. All
that data gets run through a few Basis algorithms to create a picture of your
health that's displayed in the handy-dandy web portal you see above. The
dashboard is meant to make your data digestible so you can create (and meet)
your health goals, and there's both game mechanics and social media
integration to keep you motivated. Of course, you can access the raw data if
you're into tracking pulse rates and perspiration levels. We got a chance to
speak with company CEO Jeff Holove about Basis, and he said it's meant to
enable the every man to track his health during regular daily activities -- as
opposed to similar products from Garmin and Polar that are aimed at athletes.
If that sounds good to you, the Basis Band comes out in "early 2012" for $199,
and the cloud service will be free for those who buy in. PR and a video are
after the break.
