Choosing A Set Of Efficient Cordless Loudspeakers
Current wireless surround sound speakers are going to naturally squander a certain amount of energy they consume. Buying set of cordless speakers with high power efficiency may minimize the amount of squandered power. I am going to explain a few little-known details about efficiency to help you select the best product.
A relatively high amount of power is dissipated as heat if you get a pair of low-efficiency wireless loudspeakers. This may result in a number of problems: A lot of wasted power naturally will mean greater operating expenditure which means that a more expensive pair of cordless speakers may actually in the long run be less expensive when compared to a less costly product which has lower efficiency. Lower efficiency wireless loudspeakers are going to radiate a whole lot of power as heat. Heat will not dissipate properly through small surfaces. Therefore low-efficiency wireless speakers must use heat sinks. These heat sinks use up a fair amount of room and make the cordless loudspeakers bulky and heavy. Further, they increase the price of the wireless speakers. Cordless loudspeakers with low efficiency can not be placed in small spaces or inside sealed enclosures given that they demand a great deal of circulation.
Low-efficiency products require more total power to output the same amount of audio power as high-efficiency models. As a result they require a bigger power supply which makes the cordless speakers more expensive to construct. Further, the thermal stress on the circuit board elements as well as amplifier materials is much more serious and may even reduce the reliability.
While looking for a couple of cordless loudspeakers, you'll find the efficiency in the data sheet. This figure is frequently shown as a percentage. Class-A amplifiers are among the least efficient and provide a power efficiency of around 25% only. On the other hand, switching amplifiers, also known as "Class-D" amplifiers offer efficiencies of up to 98%. Getting an amplifier having an efficiency of 90% for example shows that 10% of the power that is utilized is wasted while 90% would be audio power.
Please be aware, though, that efficiency depends on just how much energy the amp delivers at a given moment. Amps have greater efficiency while providing greater output power than while working at low power due to the fixed power that they consume irrespective of the output power. The efficiency figure in the amp data sheet is typically given for the highest amplifier output power.
The measurement setup of amplifier efficiency employs a power resistor which is attached to the amp. The amplifier itself is being fed a constant-envelope sine-wave tone. After that the power consumed by the resistor is tested and divided by the power the amplifier consumes. Given that the efficiency will depend on the audio power, usually the output power is swept and an efficiency curve made which will display the amp efficiency for every level of output power.
When selecting a set of cordless loudspeakers you will need to weigh efficiency versus fidelity given that cordless loudspeakers which utilize low-efficiency analog amps often provide the maximum audio fidelity while digital models are going to have larger distortion. On the other hand, the latest cordless loudspeakers that use switching-mode music amps, including Class-T amplifiers, provide audio fidelity that comes close to that of low-efficiency analog amps and can be created really small and light.
Don't you HATE it when you spend good money on jewelry & it changes color?
I know I spent a good $14.95 on this silver 3-pair set of earrings. The LEAST they could do is stay silver until 2pm!
Just kidding.
Kinda...
I HAD to give thumbs up to the extra-serious answers of LEE S, AANGIE, JUST ME & DIAMOND. I have much love for RULSGRL & MINNIE_B.
I didn't put any thumbs down.
you are right, sometimes i buy something just for the color or the stone to match something specific. i don't mind the darkening color so much as when the holding clasp breaks or the hookie thing gets twisted in your hair and just breaks off. i don't polish my silver stuff anyway, it looks nice tarnished, i just hate it when it breaks. and any money is good money, ya know. try keeping the unreal stuff in its bag until just before you are ready to wear them. it may make it through a party long enough for everyone to get so drunk they won't notice anyway.
New Jersey's best sledding hills: 2010 Edition (Newark Star-Ledger)
Ledger Live for Wednesday February 17th, 2010 - Ledger Live with Brian
Donohue. On today's show: The webcast crew set out once again to find the best
sledding hill in New Jersey. After sending us to a pair of hills in Middlesex
and Monmouth Counties last year, viewers suggested a trio of hills that sent
us on a more northerly route through Essex, Morris and Bergen Counties. And it
paid off. Our slides down Flood's Hill in South Orange, Camp Dawson in
Montville, and the hill behind Ridgefield Park High School provided enough
thrills, spills - and bumps and bruises - to last until summer.
