Big Acts To Headline Michael Jackson Tribute Concert
The biggest Michael Jackson tribute is set to happen on October 8 inWales with no less than Jamie Foxx as host. Apart from being the event’s host, he also slated to perfrom. Other stars on the list are Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Ne-Yo. Earlier reports were made indicating that Beyoncé and the band KISS are to be part of the tribute but decided to back out. Beyoncé’s rep said that her pregnancy is the reason for her to decide not to perform in the tribute anymore.
Looking Back
Michael Jackson, known as the King of Pop, revolutionized music and pop culture. He had a very big influence to the world from his music, dance, and fashion. He started his career at the age of 8 as part of the Jackson 5 with his brothers until he became a solo act. As they say, the rest is history as he became one of the greatest artists in this lifetime with the most-selling album of all time, Thriller.
Michael’s Personal Struggles
Despite his success as an artist, several criticisms were still thrown at him especially with regard to his personal life. People also find his ways odd such as his changing appearance and his soft spot for children. Speculations on his sexuality didn’t ceased. He was also being repeatedly portrayed as a child sexual offender in the media. In one of his many interviews, he would talk about how his father abused him, both physically and verbally, when he was a child. He received strict discipline from his father and recalled how much he was being laughed at because he has a “fat” nose. His dissatisfactions with is appearance as well as child-like ways can be attributed to his being maltreated as a child.
Lisa Marie Presley became his wife in 1994 and they were together for 2 years. However, the media speculated that it was a way of cleaning his image after the sexual abuse reports in 1993. His career was halted until he announced later in March 2009 that a comeback concert called This Is It will be made. His This Is It concert never happened as he was discovered dead in his home on June 25 due to a cocktail of medications which include Zoloft and other strong narcotic pain killers. Zoloft and other SSRI’s are successful in treating depression which is why MJ has been prescribed with the medication, however, taking it with other drugs has been fatal for his health.
Does the name of the band "All America Rejects" turn you off from their music ?
I have always found that name as a big hindrance. Every time I thought of buying one of their CD's I just couldn't get past the ridiculously pretentious band name.
In reality, I have listened to their music, and I don't really like it at all. Nonetheless, I think they would have a better rep and more fans, if it weren't for that stupid name. I mean, what were they thinking ?, there is a whole international market out there.
