is air resistance present in uniform circular motion?
im currently doing my physics lab report and im writing an introduction on it. for the experiment we whirled a rubber stopper in a horizontal plane with a slotted weight attached to the other end of the string.
im just wondering whether air resistance is present in the case of uniform circular motion. does it cause the theoretical and actual values to differ?

oh the actual values are the ones obtained from the experiment and the theoretical value is the one calculated based on equations. hopefully this makes things clearer
more specifically: we set the length of the string at a constant length, whirled the rubber stopper until it moves with constant velocity and then calculate the time taken for 50 rounds
In this case air resistance is going to have two components acting on your rubber stopper. One component is going to act in the tangential direction and we would call it Drag.
Assuming you are trying to calculate the centripetal force acting on the stopper, this drag force will not have any effect as it is orthogonal to the centripetal force.
Assuming the rubber stopper is not symetrical, it is possible that there will be another component of air resistance which we will call Lift that will have an effect on your calculated value for the centripetal force. However it is probably negligable.
