Why Use Ultra Light Backpacks
If you like to hike or trek over 20 miles in a day you will know how the weight of the gear you carry with you is a very significant factor. Experienced backpackers know that to reduce weight you need to concentrate on the three main items: the shelter, sleeping bag and the backpack itself.
So you will want to leave your huge 10 pound tent and snug 5 pound sleeping bag at home and get yourself the lightest backpack you can find.
You may find it hard to believe but there are some really good lightweight backpacks that weigh less than four ounces. That's no exaggeration. The typical capacity for a bag like this will be between about 1500 and 2000 cubic inches which is more than enough space for about 15 pounds of equipment. This should be more than enough for a lightweight sleeping bag, a tarpaulin and a few vital necessities like some food and a first aid kit. And some water of course.
When packing for a lightweight trek you're likely to find that the water you need is the heaviest item you need to carry. You can reduce the amount of water that you need to carry with you by planning your route to take you via locations where you can refill.
Another big benefit of going ultra light weight is that the equipment tends to be much cheaper than the heavier, tougher alternatives. You will even find some bargain lightweight backpacks in various discount stores, often sold as day sacks costing only a few dollars. They may be simple designs with only one or two external pockets, but easily adequate for most lightweight backpacking expeditions. They may be low cost for they can be ideal for lightweight backpacking trips.
If you are lightening your load it's really worth paying some attention to your clothes and footwear. Forget your all weather outdoor clothing and instead go for an ultra lightweight rain and wind proof fold-up cagoule and some light weight sports shoes rather than heavy walking boots.
When kitted out with only light weight clothing and equipment you'll find that 20 miles over hills and through valleys will seem like no distance at all.
am i miscarrying? should i go to er?
i go a few months with no af, then FINALLY she shows on her own, oh so light and barely there, but lasting 2 weeks. two freakin weeks. then no af for 2 more weeks! THEN SHE CAME BACK. which would have been grand if i had ovulated. i didnt feel it likei usually do,......so i dont know if i did or not anywho i have had her for 4ish days...... ULTRA HEAVY, and bright bright red. ultra clumpy and its kinda scaring me. i mean, were talkin a overnight pad every hour and a half! dh wants me to go to the dr....and im so tired of the bad news. 2 weird periods, 2 weeks apart? what do yall think it is? what should i do? what could be happening with my body that HATES me? advice please!!
ok assholes........i am not even 2 blocks from the er....i dont know if i was/ am preg....or if its just a heavy period...im asking advice...and i have a appointment with my dr on tuesday.
im not a complete dumbass....okay "kitten"?
I would suggest going to the ER. Even if you aren't having a miscarriage, bleeding that heavily isn't a good sign. You could have a cyst that's ruptured. There's a number of things that can cause your periods to be that heavy. You could also be having an ectopic pregnancy. It's best to go to the ER just in case. Bleeding that much in such a short period of time can cause you to become weak and faint. It's best to see the Dr. ASAP.
If you are having a miscarriage, I am so sorry for your loss. I know it has to be difficult losing a child, even in that early stage of life. But just remember, your body doesn't hate you. It's nature's way of taking care of things, and it's totally natural. In most cases, women get pregnant pretty quickly after a miscarriage. You may have to have a D&C to stop the bleeding, so please see your Dr or go to the ER soon.
